As a Student Nurse Extern, you will be introduced to an environment that fosters excellence in all areas of nursing. This is a full time program that includes an orientation and clinical work. We accept applications beginning January 1. The deadline for application is the last Friday in February.
The program is 8-10 weeks long (starting in June) and allows nursing students to develop technical and organizational skills in nursing which includes:
- Works closely with professional nurses to determine patients’ needs, implements activities of treatment/care, observes, reports and documents patient responses. Patient care assignments under the supervision of a professional nurse are carried out with a comprehensive approach to achieve specific outcomes.
- Performs nursing procedures and related activities within the framework of written care plans and assignments of professional nurses.
- Is introduced to various specialties (e.g., Operating Room, PACU, Critical Care, etc.) of interest through a clinical rotation model.

Eligibility ... You must be enrolled in a BSN Program, have completed one medical/surgical clinical semester, and have a cumulative average of 3.5 or higher, with no "C" grades in Nursing and Science Courses.
