Principles of Dance Medicine: Clinical Management of the Dancer Patient
July 12, 2012
In July the Harkness Center for Dance Injuries (HCDI) held its acclaimedPrinciples of Dance Medicine: Clinical Management of the Dancer Patient continuing medical education (CME) course. This was the fourth time this course has been offered since 2007 and HCDI welcomed attendees from over twenty-five of the United States as well as from countries around the world, including Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, Israel, Japan, and the United Kingdom. The Principles of Dance Medicine CME course, sponsored by the NYU Post-Graduate Medical School, was specifically designed for physicians and allied healthcare practitioners who work with, or have an interest in working with, dancer-patients. The first day of the course was open to dance educators, somatic practitioners, and dance scientists so that an opportunity for communication between dance professionals and medical professionals could take place.
Past CME course participants have exclaimed:
“I am very excited to incorporate the new evaluation tools, and treatment techniques that were learned in the labs.” “This was an excellent conference. The best I've ever been to, to be honest. The staff showed passion and expertise.”
