About Us

The Harkness Center for Dance Injuries was founded in 1989 in partnership with the Harkness Foundation for Dance and the Hospital for Joint Diseases in response to the New York dance community's critical need for specialized and affordable health care. Still today more than 50% of dancers are uninsured or underinsured and cannot afford the medical help they need. The Harkness Center for Dance Injuries and NYU Langone's Hospital for Joint Diseases are committed to offer a full variety of affordable health care options from free preventative screenings to subsidized and sliding fee-scale injury management systems.
