Post-Anesthesia Care Unit C2

The Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) caters to immediate post-op patients. The goal of our care is to restore physiologic stability, prevent complications, and achieve optimal patient outcomes following anesthesia. Collaborative and teamwork practice enhances our ability to provide optimal patient care. The staff employs critical thinking skills and effective communication  and a lot of camaderie.

Our Facilities

PACU C2 consists of 13 critical care units in an open area designed to provide maximum visibilty of patients and maximum availability of staff to each unit. Each bedport is designed to provide for continous cardiac, blood pressure, and oximetry monitoring. Staff ratio is consistent with the guidelines of ASPAN to facilitate optimal outcomes for the surgical, orthopedic, spinal patients of all age group. Each bedport is equipt with computers on wheels to facilitate electronic documentation of patient records.

Staff Quality

The rendering of PACU patient care and related services is achieved through appropriately prepared registered nurses and licensed personnel who possess critical and special skills to work in PACU, and who can effectively communicate critical patient information to the interdisciplinary team to effectuate optimal patient care.

A PACU nurse should be able to demonstrate competency in the provision of nursing care during all phases of post anesthesia to meet the individual needs of patients and families.
