Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASC), Pre and Post C1, specializes in same day surgical procedures. In addition, ASC is slowly evolving to provide pre and post-operative nursing care to total joint patients. In ASC, the multi-level skills of expert nurses are dedicated to providing services in the Preop/Intake care in the Holding Area, Post Anesthesia care Unit, including Preop and Post Phone Calls. We are also recognized for promoting a collaborative practice environment because of the many facets involved in the provision of excellent patient care. In 2011, a research study was conducted at NYUHJD aimed at enhancing communication between patients, their families, and our interdisciplinary team members. In ASC, a new program called Surgical Nurse Liaison has been developed and initiated to promote a patient-centered experience. Nurses work side by side with leadership in order to support a healthy work environment, achieve excellence through nursing research and evidenced based practice.
