Step Down Unit

The 8-bed Step Down Unit is staffed by highly experienced Critical Care Intensivist and Registered Nurses, complemented by skilled respiratory therapist, physical therapist and other healthcare professionals trained to care for complex medical and surgical patient. The collaboration between our medical and surgical physician experts and the expertise of our nurses allows for excellent clinical outcomes leading to be the best in the nation.

Our Facilities

The Step Down Unit is designed to provide care to medical and surgical patients. The care involves the use of telemetry monitoring equipment and advance pharmacology. There is an increase in the frequency of nursing observation (i.e., vital signs, intake & output monitoring) thus, the level of care in a step-down unit is greater than that available on the medical surgical units. The stepdown unit also manages patients with complex medical care problems needing less intensive care. This includes pneumonia, COPD, asthma, neuromuscular diseases, and major pulmonary embolism.

The following qualities we look for a potential candidate:

  • Telemetry experience (preferred, not required)
  • 1 year medical and/or surgical experience (preferred)
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with the medical team
