Special Care Unit (Critical Care Unit)
The 8-bed Special Care Unit (Critical Care Unit) is staffed by highly experienced Critical Care Intensivist and Registered Nurses, complemented by skilled respiratory therapists, physical therapist, pharmacy services, dietary, social work services and other healthcare professionals trained to care for critically ill patient in the immediate post-operative phase. The collaboration between our medical and surgical physician experts and the expertise of our nurses allows for excellent clinical outcomes leading to be the best in the nation.
The Special Care Unit (Critical Care Unit) is primarily designed to provide comprehensive care to critically ill surgical patients. The care requires the use of extensive monitoring equipment (i.e., telemetry monitoring, hemodynamics), advance pharmacology, mechanical ventilation and wound care management. The level of care in an intensive care unit is greater than that available on the medical surgical units. The Special Care Unit also manages patients with complex medical critical care problems. This includes respiratory failure due to ARDS, pneumonia, COPD, asthma, neuromuscular diseases, shock, and major pulmonary embolism.
We are looking for the following qualities:
- Critical care and/or telemetry experience (preferred)
- Minimum of 1 year medical-surgical nursing experience
- Strong assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to positively communicate and interact with all members of the team
