Orientation

Orientation is competency based and designed to meet individual needs
Learning methods include general and specialty based lecture and discussion, skills labs, clinical conferences and computer based programs
Unit based preceptors along with nursing leadership assist the new nurse throughout the clinical orientation
Orientation is 8-12 weeks based on the assigned unit and learning needs of the orientee
The Nurse Residency Program builds on orientation and is required for all new graduate nurses
