Orientation
- Orientation is competency based and designed to meet individual needs
- Learning methods include general and specialty based lecture and discussion, skills labs, clinical conferences and computer based programs
- Unit based preceptors along with nursing leadership assist the new nurse throughout the clinical orientation
- Orientation is 8-12 weeks based on the assigned unit and learning needs of the orientee
- The Nurse Residency Program builds on orientation and is required for all new graduate nurses
